Being in Eak Mongkol 3 now in Sao Khao Talo gives me more a relaxing vibe as it has less people and noise now. The village is peaceful and far from the busy life in the city. But honestly, I miss it. I miss the noise that the city gives. The energy. The vibrant life. I miss the number of various people from all walks of life I see every day. I miss my apartment in Hollywood Plaza, not for the apartment itself but just for being so close to everything. The downtown life. Where everything is just a walking distance.
I miss the Central Festival Mall. It only costs me 10 Baht to go there. Just one ride of Song Thaew or the Baht Bus, after 10 minutes, I'm there already. Masarap lang tumambay sa mall na yun. Kasi kahit naka pangbahay ka lang, it's not a big deal. People won't mind. It's the most casual mall kahit napaka elite nang lugar. Pattaya life is very casual. Dito ko natutunang di mo na kailangan pumorma nang todo para mag-mall. And everytime I go home from the mall, nilalakad ko lang. Kasi buhay na buhay nga ang beach road. Masaya maglakad.
Isa pa yang Beach Road na yan kung saan andoon ang Pattaya Beach. Masarap din tumambay doon kapag walang magawa sa apartment. Doon ka lang sa beach side. Upo lang. Nood ka lang nang mga tao. Nang napaka-daming tao. Mga eksena nang mga pokpok at mga malilibog na foreigners paying for sex. Pag sapit kasi nang gabi, kung gaano kadami ang beach umbrella sa umaga sa beach, ganun naman kadaming pokpok pagdating nang gabi. As in. Haha. Nilalakad ko lang talaga yun from my apartment.
I miss also the Central Center Pattaya where the other Big C is located. Not just for the Big C but for the mall itself. Alternative mall ko yun pag ayaw kong pumunta nang Central Festival Mall. Maiba lang minsan. Although not as big as central Festival pero may mga happenings din kasi minsan sa mall na yun, mga concert or show, kaya minsan, doon ako tumatambay, habang kumakain nang DQ. Then kahit malayo yun, tatawid lang ako nang Beach Road, then lalakarin ko lang uli pauwi. You see, masipag ako maglakad. Hehe.
The closest mall from my apartment as you know it from my previopus posts is the TukCom Mall. It's just a 5 minute walk only. Ganun siya kalapit. Ilang tambling lang, andoon na ako. Kaya kapag nagugutom, may mabilis kang mapupuntahan para kumain. Namimiss ko nang kumain sa Chester's Grill at ang garlic chicken burger nila. Hmmm. Sheeeet!!!! Nag-crave ako bigla. Doon din ako bumibili nang mga DVD copy na movies. But mind you, ang pirated movie dito sa Pattaya is so expensive. It costs 100 Baht for each copy.
And of course, the best discovery I miss in my area before is the Pork Floss meal ko. Imagine, naitatawid ko ang dinner ko for a 30 Baht meal only. Sarap kasi. Lalabas ka lang from the apartment, andiyan na ang hilera nang mga kung ano anong street food na pwede mong pagpilian pati ang tatlong 7 eleven na malapit sa apartment. Very convenient talaga. At masaya na ako sa ganung pagkain. Minsan, sasamahan ko lang nang watermelon shake na worth 20 Baht, or minsan din, pork bbq na worth 10 Baht, fiesta na sa akin yun!
I'm not saying I'm not happy with our place now. Ang advantage ko na ngayon is may kasama na ako sa bahay. Di na ako madalas malungkot kasi may kausap na. But I'm just missing Hollywood Plaza for its proximity to different places without spending so much money for the transportation. Aside from the things I mentioned above, I also miss being so near to the market, Walking Street, The Pattaya Avenue, Ray's apartment, and so many more. Isang buwan ko lang siya na-enjoy. Oh well, I'm just saying I miss it...
Since it started, the tv show "Be careful with my heart" has been my daily dose of good vibes. My day is incomplete without watching this show. At dahil magulo din ang body clock ko dito sa Pattaya, kapag gising ako sa umaga, nanonood ako nang live stream. Pag hindi ko naaabutan o tulog ako, I watch the replay show sa Pinoy Tambayan. At kapag naba-block, nagwawala ako sa inis. Minsan, galit. LOL.
The show revolves around the story of Maya Dela Rosa, played by Jodi Sta. Maria. She's a simple girl who journeys to the big city to follow her dreams to become a flight stewardess to help her family. Pero naloko nang agency, hindi natuloy ang pagpunta sa Dubai, na-meet si Sir Chief as how she calls Richard, a wealthy widower played by Richard "papa chen" Yap.
Ironically, Richard is the last hope of Maya in reaching her dreams matapos maloko with the condition that she'll be the temporary nanny of his children. Maya succumbs to the condition until she finds herself involved in the private lives of the family. She took it upon herself to bridge Richard to his children. And eventually, she succeeds in rebuilding the family. Pero nagkakagusto siya kay Richard. Hehe. Magaling talagang artista si Jodi. Unti unti na nga niya akong napapaniwalang katulong siya. Hehe.
Basta, cute yung story. Light lang. Pampa-good vibes lang sa umaga. Hindi din mabigat ang plotting. Mabagal din ang storya. Para ngang wala lang. Paulit ulit lang ang scenes. Sa kwarto ni Abby. Sa kusina. Sa hapag kainan. Ganun lang. Pero di nakakasawa. Pero di ko ma-imagine si Papa Chen in a kilig scene. Or makikipagkiligan kay Jodi. Parang awkward. Bagay lang siya to his current role. His role always kahit anong show. LOL. This is the only reason why I watch filipino tv show after Walang Hanggan is slowly winding down to its end...

The most common misconception about Pattaya is that, people from other country know it as one of the provinces in Thailand. I myself had that knowledge before until I came here and found out that Pattaya is a city from the province of Chonburi. It's part of the district of Banglamung. This city is known for its beach, being the closest from Bangkok. It's just a two hour drive from the capital of Thailand that's why some foreigners visit this city after their tour in Bangkok.
From what was a small fishing village back in the early years, this city has emerged as probably the most famous and popular destination in South East Asia. Although you'll be surprised that Pattaya's coastline is just 15 km long but it's the surrounding area this city has packed in attraction after attraction, offering tourists for more action and adventure than any other thai resort. That's why you'll see a lot of first class hotels, superb dining, water sports, elephant riding and of course, their famous night life! But let me give you an introduction of Pattaya Beaches.
There are four beaches in Pattaya. The busiest beach offering everything from numerous water sports to shopping complexes, bars, restaurants and a haven for sunset exercisers is the Pattaya Beach. The northern and central area of the beach and the road are much quieter, whereas the southern end which culminates with Walking Street tends to have a lot more bars many of which are adult oriented. Accommodation options are endless and eating opportunities present themselves in every form.
The fast becoming one of the Pattaya's most popular beaches for its cleaner waters is the Jomtien Beach. This is popular with families as the night scene is not so raucous although there is plenty to do in Jomtien. It seems to have a slightly cosmopolitan vibe with a number of boutique hotels and trendy eateries popping up in and around Jomtien. A number of tourist activities like golf, karting, and bungy are conveniently located nearby. If you find Pattaya Beach so busy, Jomtien is less-crowded.
Now here's for the people like me. At the very north end of Jomtien is Dongtan Beach which is known as a popular hang out for gay men. It's a well kept section of Jomtien and hosts some high end resorts, condo's and restaurants. Well, worth a stroll for a change of scenery with access to a number of well healed resorts and culminating at Pattaya Park and amusement park. If Pattaya beach is the busiest and Jomtien beach is busy, Dongtan is more peaceful, relaxing, and has lesser people.
The last one which I haven't gone in to is the Wong Amat Beach. They said it's one of the cleaniest and least developed beaches in the area, just north of Pattaya Beach. They also said that it's not so easy to find access to but if you head for Wong Amat Resort, there is a path down the side of it. Alternatively, one can walk from North Pattaya following the path around the perimeter of the Dusit Thani and can marvel at a series of almost undiscovered splendid little bays along the way. Soon, I'll visit this beach!
For me, honestly, the beaches here are not the most attractive beach being able to see and experience Boracay, Puerto Princesa, Pagudpud, Bantayan Island and Panglao Island in the Philippines. Walang wala. Hehe. I guess if you want a beach escapade in Thailand, Phuket is still the place to go. If you just want an additional itinerary in your Bangkok trip, Pattaya is an option. Not just for the beach but the numerous attraction of the city. Sadly, they have not put any much effort to improve their beach as a major attraction in Pattaya.
Although I must say have enjoyed my visit in those 3 first beaches naman, not because of the water but for the gorgeous topless guys available for your eyes to see. LOL. And that's it! Masarap lang tumambay. Magpahangin. Manood nang mga tao and different scenes. Pero kung gusto mo talaga mag-beach sa Pattaya at mag-relax under the sun, I recommend Dongtan Beach. Not crowded and the water is cleaner. Wala din masyadong water sports activities. There you go! I hope that helps.
Some time last week, nana, ray and I went to Central Festival Mall pagkahatid nang lunch kay nano. First, pumunta kasi ako nang Hilton Hotel, sinamahan ako nang dalawa. Second, matagal tagal nang di nakapag-mall si ray at wala siyang oras. Third, wala lang din kami magawa. Hehe. Nung napadaan kami sa 3D Candy Store, bumili si nana nang cotton candy. Remember, random craver yung dalawa, kung ano lang makita nilang gusto, bibilhin nila. We just got one big vanilla flavored cotton candy for the three of us.
Actually, here in Thailand, they do something else with cotton candy. It's called Roti Samai or pronounced as " Roti Say May". The thai style cotton candy is wrapped in a sweet roti or just like the lumpia wrapper sa atin, but it's a soft one, just like the one used for crepes and in pandan flavor. Paborito ito nang mga thai. Pinatikim sa akin nung dalawa nung makakita kami ni Ray sa isang talat (market) one time. According to thais, it originated from the old capital of Thailand which is the Ayutthaya.
It's a DIY (do it yourself) dessert. Ikaw magra-wrap nang cotton candy sa roti, depende sa dami nang gusto mo. Just pile the floss onto the roti and roll up! The more floss you use the better! It's so easy to assemble and the flavors are lovely and not too sweet.
The candy floss melts in your mouth just like cotton candy does. It's a must try when you visit Thailand. You can see and buy roti samai in the streets and in the markets (talat). Okay, now I'm craving again. Enough! LOL.
