English Bulldog

The other night when we went to Punch & Judy Bar to meet some Thai and Filipino friends, we saw one dog outside the bar together with her master just hanging out. In Pattaya, as mentioned previously in my posts, you will see a lot of dogs. Some are stray dogs na may lahi, and some are pets of the people living here in the city. Thai people have so much love and respect for dogs that's why you'll see a lot of pet shops, grooming stores and pet items for dogs in the supermarkets and malls. And it's cheaper to buy a dog here!

It was my first time to see a unique looking dog at that time which made me approach the english guy and ask about his dog. It's an english bulldog and she's called "tara" by her master. I was full of amazement looking at how she looks and how she is behaving. Well, it was my first time to see one. Typically for us, when we say or when we hear the word "bulldog", we always associate it with the word "wild" or "aggressive" to it, right? But during the conversation with the english guy who owns tara, english bulldogs are among the gentlest of dogs despite the intimidating appearance.

The english bulldog has a wide, compact, massive, medium-size body with short legs and tail, with skin on both the skull and forehead falling in folds. Even the cheeks extend to the sides of the eyes. So cute! The owner said that she's very affectionate and dependable, gentle with children and very much a peoples' dog seeking out human attention and loving every bit it can get. That's why we were able to touch her without any aggressive response. But he said she has issues with cats. She chase them and gets aggressive. Well, that's a good exception for me. Haha!

We thought of, this dog can be a good security for your house because it can be very deceiving. A thief would think twice to enter in to your house if they see an english bulldog at your gate. Haha. We also noticed that she was drinking water with ice. We asked the guy and he said that they are very susceptible to heat stroke. That's why she drinks a lot of cold water and stays in an air-conditioned room. Now that's a very expensive lifestyle for that pet. Haha! The owner said it's very expensive to buy an english bulldog in UK, costing around 50k Baht, but he bought it here in Pattaya for just 10k Baht. Now, that's way cheaper! See, I told you!
